Carrel Information

Carrels in the law library will be assigned to Journal and Scholar students when requested. Please fill out this form to secure your carrel.

If you receive an assigned carrel, please abide by the Law Library's Carrel Policy:

1) All materials must be stored in a single row and in an orderly manner on the carrels elevated shelf.

2) Stored materials may NOT include:

  • Loose-leaf services
  • Materials labeled Reserve or Reference
  • Federal/State statutes or regulations

3)  The Law Library staff may remove library items stored in a carrel in violation of the above criteria.

4)  The user may keep personal belongings in the carrel at their own risk, but no personal items should be affixed to the carrel itself (e.g., white boards, posters, etc.).

5)  The Law Library is not responsible for lost, stolen, or inadvertently shelved items from carrels. It is strongly recommended that students lock up personal items in the filing cabinet.

6)  Coffee makers, refrigerators, and other personal appliances are NOT allowed in the carrel. Using oil diffusers and essential oils is NOT allowed.

7)  Carrel reservations expire on the date posted on the Carrel Reservation Form. The user must vacate the carrel when privileges expire or upon demand; the library staff will clean carrels and remove any remaining items after the reservation expires.

8)  NO TOBACCO PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CARRELS.

9)  CARREL PRIVILEGES MAY BE REVOKED FOR VIOLATION OF THIS POLICY.
